Mathew Knowles Named Houston’s Top Music Mogul

Houston, Texas–August 7, 2017 Internationally renowned music executive Mathew Knowles was recently honored by the Go DJ Awards as “Houston’s Top Music Mogul”. As the founder of Music World Entertainment, which recently celebrated its 25th year in business, the label’s record sales exceeds 300 million worldwide.

During his acceptance speech in front of a sold-out crowd at Match in Houston’s Midtown district, Knowles imparted words of wisdom in regards to what it really takes to succeed in the music industry.

“You have to have passion and work ethic” he said. “Rehearse and when you rehearse, practice the mistakes that will happen” added the music mogul who’s also the father and former manager of global superstar Beyoncé, Grammy award winning singer Solange as well as the founder/former manager of the highest selling female group of all time, Destiny’s Child.

During his acceptance speech, Knowles also acknowledged several of the Houston artists that he’s worked with within Music World Entertainment’s 25-year tenure. In 1997, Lil’-O was the first rapper that Knowles’ managed and was able to secure a major deal for the New Orleans native with MCA Records. Knowles also acknowledged local legend Slim Thug who was featured on Beyoncé’s #1 song, “Check On It”.

Knowles went on to introduce his new artists, Blush, a girl group comprised of two rappers and a vocalist. The ladies captivated the crowd during their 10-minute set where they performed several songs from their forthcoming album including the hit, “Cinderella” which features Grammy-nominated southern rap legend, Mystikal.
